My fiction projects are works in progress. They can be novels, short stories, essays, etc. They may be intended for publication, or to be placed on this website. Each project has its working title (not the final title), a synopsis, progress bar, date of creation, and maybe some excerpts. It's nice for me to see how fast/slow I'm going, and it may be interesting for you. Enjoy.
Active Works in Progress
These are the works that are currently in progress and I am actively (daily or weekly) working on. The progress bars will show my success, so please check back often! (The word count goals are tentative and may change)

TAYCE
|
Humanity has come to accept that they are not the only ones in the world, they must share Earth with beings that were thought to only be from myth and legend. Tayce is one of these mythical beings. She's a golem that's so perfectly made she looks and feels and acts human. And she's already broken one law of magic, she's created another golem like her to keep her company through the years: Cotter, who can shapeshift into a dog. She lectures part-time at the local university and is content to live a quiet life with Cotter and keep her golem origins a secret. But, when the government starts pounding on her door and mysterious murders start happening, Tayce must decide if she should ignore them or tell what she knows: that the killer may not be human.
Author's Notes: Bah! I suck at writing a synopsis. Well, Tayce was my Nanowrimo 2007. I was surprised how much I could take from this idea. It has a fully formed world and society, and it's technically an "alternate history" mixed with an "urban fantasy." Before I had never thought to write a story with vampires and werewolves in them. Leave it to everyone else, I thought. But who knew it would be so much fun? You can read all the blog posts I've made regarding "Tayce" by clicking here.

Not-So-Active Works in Progress
These projects are ones I may be working on whenever the mood strikes me or I'm blocked on another story. As a result, they're moving more slowly. However, they are not abandoned in any way.

MATTIE
|
Humans are not alone, they are slowly coming to grips with sharing the Earth and their society with supernatural beings that were thought to only be myth and legend. Mattie's world collided with the supernatural when she was very young, but since then she has grown up and strived for her goals, becoming a successful pastry chef at a trendy restaurant in Sodborough. Then one day she has a chance encounter with a vampire in a nightclub. He's everything she has been told about vampires: mysterious, flirty, and oh-so-sexy. He also wants her to cater his Spring Equinox party. What could possibly go wrong?
Author's Notes: Once again my synopsis creating leaves me speechless. Anyway, this story actually began as a spin-off. I had created a character in "Tayce" that I liked so much, I wanted a series that made him a major character. I also had been itching to make a pastry chef character for a while (it was a profession I had once seriously considered myself, and now I live vacriously through Mattie and her cake-making prowess). You can read all the blog posts I've made regarding "Mattie."

MORGAN
|
In the distant future, the Earth has been remade. Due to violent climate changes, no place is left unaffected, and people are still coming to grips with a new way of life. Technology is booming and the rich are getting richer while the poor stay very poor. It is a gilded age. Morgan Blithe is an Adventurer for hire. It's not as glamorous as people would like to think, but it's a way to make a living. One day a very good offer falls into her lap. A young woman asks her to bust someone out of jail. Of course, she thinks he's totally innocent, but questionable morality may not be the problem. The prison he's being held in is known as impenetrable!
Author's Notes: This is one of my most intense projects. The idea originally came to me a year ago, and I've been tinkering with it ever since. However, when NANOWRIMO 2006 came along, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try and start the story. After NANOWRIMO, I began re-writing a lot of it since my ideas had changed drastically. I would love to see this work some day published into a novel! You can read all the posts I've made about "Morgan" by clicking here.
